Research on diabetes prevention pointed us in the right direction: we could make a difference with the 27% of Americans with pre-diabetes, simply by helping them lose 5% of their body weight. The proven science has been documented; all that was needed was an engaging, simple and accessibly way to encourage permanent lifestyle changes.

Helping people make real changes in their life.

By bringing together a team of professionals focused on obesity and diabetes prevention, we knew that we could develop a program that would make real and lasting changes in people’s lives. The plan: to create a step-by-step system that would empower people to take control of their health, motivate better choices, and lose weight in the process.

The team

Leveraging proven success, we recruited the people behind the NIH-funded weight-loss studies of the past two decades.

We brought together seven MDs, five behavioral science PhDs, an economics of healthcare PhD and two doctorates of psychiatry. We then added a team of Emmy award-winning TV and film writers to make sure all content was engaging and professionally produced.

Real Appeal became a personalized, interactive, online weight-loss program offered free to consumers as part of their health benefit package.

The program

By delivering key information with engaging and relevant content, individuals are empowered to make positive changes in their lives. It’s truly a win-win situation for all parties involved.

The program’s curriculum was built around the digital delivery of helpful and meaningful content. From weekly face-to-face customized video sessions to online group discussions led by a Real Appeal Transformation Coach, employees interact with the program to lose weight and improve their helath. We even brought in MVP sport celebrities, best-selling authors, TV chefs and familiar TV and film personalities to be a part of the production of content and deliver key messages pertaining to the program.

The results

The results were staggering. With over 100,000 people enrolled, over 500,000 pounds have been lost by Real Appeal members—and this encouraging number rises every day. The program received as satisfaction rating of 4.83 out of 5 from people that participated. In the end, we found that by giving people access to a positive and empathetic coach, along with an easy-to-follow content guide, we could truly improve people’s lives by knowing the best way to focus on nutrition, fitness and motivation.
